Any Alternatives to Terapeak.com?
-
Hi Andrew! Just been made redundant and recently purchased your DVD. Very strapped for cash at the moment and can’t afford to subscribe to Terapeak.com. How do I find out the sell through rate of a product using advanced search in e bay?
Thanks,
LimbiHello Limbi!
Thanks for your question.
Yes, you can find out sell through rate using eBay’s Advanced Search option. You’ll have to do it manually though and it will take a lot of time but if you’re on a really, really low budget and simply can’t afford to spend $25 on Terapeak, this may be your only option.
Ok, here’s what you have to do:
Step 1 – go to eBay.co.uk and click on “Advanced Search” (header section, next to “Search” button)
Step 2 – enter item you want to research (for example: “Apple iPod 16 GB”)
Step 3 – make sure to check “Completed Listings” option
Step 4 – click on “Search” button
Step 5 – make calculations to get sell through rate (red coloured price means that item didn’t sell, green – the opposite).
Now, most likely you’ll spend most of your time on Step 5 – making the calculations. Yes, it’s very time consuming as you’ll have to count how many listings there were listed, how many of them sold (green colour) and for what prices if you want to get average price as well.
To make this process as precise as possible, make sure to use other filters before clicking that search button, like – select proper category for the item you’re researching. You can also get different results by selecting only BIN listings, auctions, listings with free shipping or from UK sellers only.
Once again, this process is very time consuming and boring PLUS it won’t give you the data range and analysis Terapeak can do so maybe once again you should re-consider your options and get 1 month Terapeak subscription.
Remember, you won’t have to use Terapeak every month so it’s enough to just subscribe for one month, do your research for couple of weeks and cancel subscription. If you’re serious about this all “sell online” stuff you should be ready to invest at last 15 quid into market research process.
