How To Increase The Visibility of My Product?
-
Good:
I have a nice product.
I have a nice listing.
I have a good price and good feedback.Bad:I only have 4 page views after 1 week.
My question is: How do I increase the visibility of my product on eBay?
First thing that comes to my mind is “Demand”. Have you done a proper market research? What’s the demand for product you’re trying to sell? The easiest way to check this is to use eBay’s Advanced Search function – “Completed Listings Only”. This way you’ll instantly see how many items are selling on a daily basis. Another great way to do this is to use automated software like Terapeak.com
Why this is important? You see, if there’s only handful of people looking for your products, no wonder you get just 4 page views. To get a decent number of page views market should be fairly active.
Also, what’s the competiveness level in your niche? Are there many players selling the same stuff? If other sellers are selling plenty of identical items, problem may lay in other areas of your eBay business.
Secondly, as you know – by default, eBay’s search results are sorted by “Best Match” algorithm. “Best Match” algorithm uses number of factors to determine your listings position in search results such as your DSR, feedback, keywords, conversion rate etc. By far the most important element is your DSR – Detailed Seller Rating.
What’s your DSR? No one knows exact formula but I believe that if your DSR is below 4.5 mark, it could seriously affect your positions in eBay’s search results.
Last but not least – make sure your item’s title is written properly, with keywords used in the beginning of title, without spamming and keyword misuse. Use keyword research tools (Terapeak.com, Google’s Keyword Tool, Bay Estimate) to come up with a precise list of targeted keywords related to item you sell.
Also – remember that your title acts like a small ad for your listing, if it’s written poorly, people may not click on it at all, no matter what’s your position in search results. So try to write titles that are keyword rich but in same time encourages people to click on the link!
Another way to increase your click through rate is to use a gallery Picture that stands out from the crowd. Take a look at search results – what pictures other sellers are using and do opposite – use a picture, colourful border or anything else to stand out from the crowd and grab attention.
If you’re willing to PAY to get more visitors to your listings, you can consider “Featured First” and “Featured Plus” options. Yes, they’re costly and won’t work in every situation but if you work in an extremely severe market, this will give you much needed attention by showing your listing on the top spot of search results page.
Finally – if you’re willing to try out something new, why not take a look at eBay’s new, pay par click advertising program – AdCommerce.
