Made-In-China.com SCAMS – Be Aware!
-
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for this website, REALLY!!! I have learned so much from you!
I have a question too about one supplier I have found: made-in-china.com
What are your thoughts? Is it a scam or legit supplier?
This is a first time I plan to import products from China so really want to make it right, don’t want to get scammed (I can’t afford that).
I have done some research on this website and got mixed reviews – some people say it’s a scam, some report successful orders.
Please help Andrew!
Thanks in advance,
AmyHi Amy,
Thanks for your question.
Made-In-China.com is definitely not a scam! It’s a totally legit B2B (Business 2 Business) website, very popular one by the way.
The main reason why you got so mixed reviews is that it’s only a PLATFORM between sellers and buyers. Made In China doesn’t sell any products, they have created a marketplace for sellers and buyers just like Alibaba.com or DHgate.com
All those scam stories you have heard most likely came from people who tried to purchase branded electronics (such as iPhone, Pioneer DJ equipment etc.) from a supplier listed on Made-In-China.com You should know that you can’t get branded electronics from China! If you’ll try, you’ll get scammed, as simple as that.
Also, don’t forget that Chinese B2B websites like these are FULL of Fakes, such as:
* Designer clothing, handbags, shoes
* Hair straighteners
* Headphones
For me – getting a FAKE is same as getting scammed so stay away from ANY branded products when you deal with Chinese suppliers!
What’s interesting about Made In China website is that they offer Audited Reports for selected suppliers:
http://www.made-in-china.com/audited-suppliers/for-buyers/browse-audit-reports.html
These are not free though but if you’re after a total piece of mind, well worth the money ($40)!
In general I’m not a huge fan of Made In China website – I prefer Alibaba.com and GlobalSources.com but that’s just me, I’m sure you can find great suppliers via Made In China website too!
Hope this helps,
Thanks,
Andrew

“is made-in-china.com a scam website?” a lot of buyers asked me this question.
Made-in-china.com is not a scam website. It is a platform connect buyers and sellers like alibaba.com.
You are doing business with the suppliers on made-in-china.com, not doing business with made-in-china.com.
I write a comment here, you can check http://www.insidealibaba.com/2011/03/about-made-in-china-com-scam/

Made-in-china.com is a scam website I lost 700 usd. The trick is that when you make an enquiry about the product on their website you get immediate offer on your email box, believing that it is from Made-in-china.com you make a purchase and you are done because the company you made a purchase from turns out not to be registered in their portal, although it has the same name and stuff. They would say that it is not their fault but when you ask them who gave your email with enquiry details they would come up with typical chinese bla bla. There is nothing you can do. I have all the transaction details and mails if you are interested to see the prove of my naive stupidity.

To avoid getting ripped of like Andrew just make sure that you use mad in china’s e-mail checker tool to make sure the replier is a registered member of made in China. If you get scammed it’s your own fault for not following the websites instructions.

I ordered a necklace via madeinchina as a test order to see if my company might buy in quantity. The item was $78 US. I was not shipped the item described and pictured. Instead I received a damaged low quality piece not even close to the one pictured and described. I filed a dispute which is still pending. I was offered a settlement of $12 refund and for me to keep the item. I refused and offered to settle for $50 refund and me keep the junk. Maybe I happened upon a disreputable seller but needless to say I won’t use this site again.

I bought a silver suit from this site £120 I asked for 50inch chest and 46inch waist. It came 44inch chest and 42 inch waist. Absolutely no good to me now they they keep emailing me back when I have asked for a refund and say you ordered that and no other respond. I am very very annoyed. What can I do?
